Better way of adding more member information field to ecommerce

We need to be able to easily add extra member information fields to an ecommerce site, most likely by adding an extra role.

Isn't that already possible by just adding another role on?

This is a very good idea, but doesn't fix a bug, per se. Strive to get done in this release.

This work is not a bug and is doable by adding another role as you said, so what would be the point of decorating a decorator ?

Does this issue creates any kind of difficulties in some situations ?

perhaps the task of adding a field (e.g. "author" if you imagine all your products were books) needs to be documented, sean, if you're suggesting this can be done easily and without editing core files, which is the intent of modules/sapphire/silverstripe.
