Description
I am unable to successfully install SilverStripe?.
I downloaded the software from this month's PC-World disk and took the following steps (as per: http://doc.silverstripe.com/doku.php?id=installation-on-windows)
Step 1: Successful Step 2: Successful (to C:\winamp) Step 3: Successful Step 4: Not necessary - I don't appear to have IIS, and Skype settings for posrts 80 & 443 had been deselected Step 5: Successful Step 6: Unsuccessful: mod_curl wasn't there. Step 7: Successful. lower_case_table_names changed to 2 Step 8: Successful Step 9: Successful Step 10: Unsuccessful. See attached Word file: "SilverStripe? Install errors.doc"
I have made what I thought were logical or required changes to:
- MySQL username and password
- Updated administrator account
The main problems seem to lie in the Requirements section
- What do the messages in red re: GD2 and MySQL support mean? And what do I need to do to fix these?
- The documentation looks a bit strange where it talks about
"allow_call_time_pass_reference". I have updated the .ini file to show "ON"
- The balance of the issues seem to relate to making sets of files writeable. When I first looked the properties showed a grey tick in the Read-only button. I set these to blank, but these folders quickly re-instated the greyed tick. and I cannot seem to get around this. I've tried at lower and higher folder levels, but with same result.
All though this the gauge is showing white
Your advice re: installation would be appreciated
BTW: My PC is Windows XP Home SP2 I run a couple of PHP-based sites for a service club, and would really like to see what SilverStripe? has to offer
Best regards Noel
